Recovery is sustained in community, not in isolation.

Pillar 2 — Local Medical & Psychiatric Provider. We help every alumnus identify and connect with a qualified local medical and psychiatric provider for continued medication management, lab work, and ongoing physical health. This is especially important for clients on post-detox opioid, benzodiazepine, or psychiatric medication protocols who need a steady local prescriber.

Pillar 3 — Local Christian Therapist. Sanctuary maintains a database of over 50,000 Christian therapists across the U.S., Canada, and internationally. We match each alumnus with a vetted Christian therapist in their area for weekly or biweekly ongoing therapy — so the clinical work begun in Cozumel continues seamlessly at home.

Pillar 4 — Sanctuary Virtual (the most important pillar). This is the heart of the program. Every night of the week, any Sanctuary alumnus can join a 90-minute live Zoom group led by a licensed therapist, pastoral counselor, or peer group leader. It is free for life. It is essentially ongoing treatment, on demand, anywhere in the world. For many alumni, Sanctuary Virtual becomes the standing weekly anchor of their recovery for years after detox.

Sanctuary Clinics is not a collection of brick-and-mortar buildings. It is a global community of Christians struggling with mental health and addiction, supporting one another for the long haul. The Four Pillars — church, medical provider, Christian therapist, and Sanctuary Virtual — are how we make that community real and accessible to every person who comes through our Cozumel detox.

For clients who are not entering long-term residential care, the Four Pillars is the answer to the most common and most dangerous question in recovery: "What now?" The answer is: a church family who knows you, a doctor who manages your meds, a Christian therapist who walks with you weekly, and a global community you can log into any night of the week. Free. Every client leaves Cozumel with:

• A written aftercare plan tailored to their situation
• A confirmed admission pathway into a long-term Christian discipleship program where appropriate
• Full enrollment in the Four Pillars aftercare program — including lifetime access to Sanctuary Virtual at no cost
• Specific referrals for therapy, IOP, MAT providers, or support groups near home
• A scheduled 30-day post-detox check-in with a Sanctuary clinician
• Access to our alumni community and ongoing resources

This continuity is critical. Detox without aftercare has high relapse rates — particularly for opioids, where post-detox tolerance loss dramatically increases overdose risk. Detox combined with the Four Pillars gives clients a genuine, structured chance at lasting recovery.
